Listening to dissatisfied clients lament the need for seasoned investigators (now needed to clean up the mess less experienced investigators left behind), I’ve heard endless stories of close-encounters of the consumer kind. Those having unfortunate dealings with beady-eyed PI’s cite one or more of the following as top complaints:
- Didn’t produce any (or less than necessary) results
- Provided no written agreement
- Won’t answer phone calls
- Claims much more money is owed -- than agreed upon
- Did not provide a receipt for cash payment
- Has not contacted the client in months
- Will not provide a written report of findings; or statement detailing how funds were appropriated
- Will not produce video documentation proving work was indeed performed
- And so on…
Client responsibility
